Boston Strong

After spending all day yesterday thinking about ways I should motivate myself — I looked at weight loss jars, charts, inspiration boards and a host of other things — I got home and almost fizzled out! I was tired, the temperature had dropped dramatically and so I was soaked from the rain and cold … but then I saw a news piece on the Boston bombing anniversary and realized I needed to put my shoes on and run.

So, I put on my gear and headed to the dreaded apartment basement gym. It’s always a little too hot in there and lacks the stimulation I need to really enjoy the run. Luckily for me, the three shared televisions were all on – and none tuned to Fox News!runforboston

ESPN was doing a special on the Boston marathon survivors, so that provided a nice distraction. One of my good friends also came down to run, which helped as well. So, as I watched a little tv, I powered through a quick three miles– all the while thinking of those who were injured and killed in Boston and might not be able to run just yet. I am blessed that I am able to hop on that treadmill or the streets any time I want.

While my pace wasn’t as great as I wanted it to be, it was good to be active.

Dinner was a whole host of roasted veggies – red potatoes, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus – brown rice and a veggie burger. I went to bed full and happy that I went through with my commitment. Today is a new day!
